Since
opening this quaint restaurant in February of 2005, Jim
Rabe, a Winter Haven native has learned a lot about the
industry.
Smokin' Jim, as he is affectionately
known, spent several years perfecting his craft as well
as catering small events for friends and family as he
brought home many trophies and ribbons from
competitions.
Smokin' Jim was urged on by friends
and family to take his award winning barbeque to the
next level. With no prior restaurant experience, Smokin'
Jim took a leap of faith and opened Smokin' Jim's House
of Bar-B-Q and Polk County is glad he did!
Nearly
a decade later, Smokin' Jim's House of Bar-B-Q has
become a favorite of locals and visitors to Polk County.
Many people travel miles to enjoy fall off the bone
ribs, award winning shredded pork, beef brisket, smoked
turkey, steaks and more.
In addition to the large
BBQ menu, there are daily and nightly specials ranging
from smoked ham with scalloped potatoes to
beef tips over rice. All "specials" incorporate Jim's
recipes and techniques with meat. |

One of the
most popular nights at Smokin' Jim's House of Bar-B-Q is
Saturday Steak Night. From 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Smokin' Jim grills up the steaks just the way you like
them. New York Strip Steaks are ordered by the inch so
you can have any thickness you desire.
Jim feels "It is nice to wake up every
morning and be able to do what you have a passion for.
It makes me happy to be able to see the smiles on
diner's faces as they enjoy my food. I am lucky to be
able to meet new people and make friends over BBQ".
